I’ve heard from a lot of different people about the benefits and rewards of writing 750 words a day, an idea adapted from The Artists Way. While everyone chooses to hit some target, I think it would be rewarding to continually put some sort of new thought down on paper every day. With that being said, I’m going to focus on between 250-500 words per day of writing. I don’t want to just write for the sake of it, so it will be limited to strong thoughts that reach at least 250 words.
On a similar note, I’ve found my frequency of writing to be hamstrung by the desire of completeness/near perfection on a per post basis over the past few months. I wanted to write posts that articulated my thoughts clearly, but also had a natural progression and flow to them, with a solid wrap to each post. This honestly had me focusing more on how I could weave my thoughts into a story of sorts, and I don’t like that. I’m no longer going to let this get in the way of sharing my thoughts and passions. The overall writing style and technique may suffer, but I’m most worried about getting my ideas out in the open and digital accountability.
What does this all mean? From now on, expect less “complete” posts, more fleeting thoughts, and hopefully privately writing 250-500 words/day will generate more random ideas. Thanks for sticking around.
